Inaugural Hometown Hero Award

November 10, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Inaugural Hometown Hero Award

As one of the largest military cities in the country, Fayetteville values the relationship and connections we have with our military citizens. The Hometown Hero Award has been created to recognize people who have worked to grow and support those relationships.

The Cool Spring Downtown District, home of the Airborne and Special Operations Museum and the NC Veterans Park in partnership with Cumberland County Veteran’s Council, the Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation and the City of Fayetteville, NC Government have initiated a new City of Fayetteville recognition – the Hometown Hero Award. The award presentation will kick off the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Heroes Homecoming Centennial of Service Speaker Series. The speakers for this series begin at 2pm and include: Extreme Survivalist and veteran, EJ Snyder, award-winning journalist & author Kevin Maurer, and founder of Operation Tattooing Freedom, Lewis Hunt.

The Hometown Hero Award was created to honor a local citizen that contributed to the nurture and development of the relationship between the City of Fayetteville and the military. General James J. Lindsay, U.S. Army, Retired, will be the first recipient of the Hometown Hero award Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1pm at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum.
