There are many ways the celebrate Juneteenth and this year we would like to honor the occasion with a festival Cumberland County will remember for years to come! \nThe Juneteenth Freedom Festival was started to share the history of slavery and to memorialize its ending. The major intent of the festival is to honor the sacrifice of our ancestors and share the cultural heritage of slaves and their descendants through entertainment\, art\, education\, and developing a sense of community.\nJoin us for a celebration of the African American community and those who gave their lives for our freedoms. \nThe festivities will begin on June 15th with the Juneteenth Freedom Breakfast\, followed by the Freedom Parade\, and finishing the day with Juneteenth in the Park [Festival Park]. The Town of Hope Mills is kickstarting our 2019 Food Truck Series on Thursday April 4th!!! The event will take place at 5770 Rockfish Road in the rear parking behind Town Hall from 5pm – 8pm. There will be outdoor music provided by the great DJ King James\, free games for the kids\, and some of the most amazing food Cumberland County has to offer. \nThe food trucks that will be participating on April 4th are: \nNothin Fancy Food Truck\nBig Ts\nChef Glen\nNannies Famous\nCalifornia Taco\nBabanns Southern Fried Chicken \nParticipating Vendors: \niSign\nThe Care Clinic\nCERT\nALMS House \nAs always\, we are supporting the ALMS House Kids Assistance Program (KAP) by asking everyone to bring any non perishable food items that you would like to donate. DESCRIPTION:Community supports community. This coming Saturday the community of Downtown Fayetteville is coming together to support The Sweet Palette as they share their personal story and battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Their fight is one to spread awareness and knowledge – a fight for a cure. \nOn Saturday March 30th\, we are doing an MS Fundrasier. We keep pretty private about it\, but MS affected our family a few years ago. When my brother was diagnosed with MS\, we had no idea how to react. We had to educate ourselves about this disease and how it affects a person’s body. It’s aggressive and can completely change a person’s life style based on if they are having an ok day or a horrible episode of the disease. There is no cure yet\, and the medicines for it are still experimental. We realized so many people have this and we want to help. \nWe are donating a portion of our sales that day. We will also be doing give-aways and raffles. All of that money will go towards the fundraiser. Our amazing Downtown Fayetteville neighbors are donating items for this. My brother is also doing a walk fundraiser this Saturday in Florida. This is our way of support. Thanks so much!! \nDONATE HERE
