Guests will have the opportunity to ponder origami’s simple messages and learn its history through interpretive signage, hands-on paper demonstrations, and educational programs.

Origami means “folding paper” in Japanese. Origami in the Garden2 tells the story of this art form through a traveling collection of metal sculptures displayed outdoors in public gardens and museums. Each sculpture is inspired by a blank piece of paper that has been transformed into museum quality metal and tells the story of creativity and the art of making something out of nothing.

MEMPHIS  – Cape Fear Regional Theater

May 9 – May 26, 2019 | Tickets: $17 -$32 | 910-323-4233 | BUY TICKETS

I had the chance to see MEMPHIS for myself a few weeks ago. At face value, it is a love story yet it may not be the kind you expect. This is a love story between a man, a woman, a city and music!

MEMPHIS · A Love Story . . . of sorts | TheMrsTee.com

Memphis is the birthplace of Rock and Roll. Inspired by the actual events of one of the first white DJ’s to showcase African-American music on the radio, this high-octane musical will have you jumping out of your seat! Don’t miss this uplifting and entertaining hit from the creative team of last season’s blockbuster, Dreamgirls.

Who will love it? Fans of high-energy musicals, non-stop dancing, and stories about bravery and love set against a backdrop of changing civil rights.

Since its inception in 2008, The North Carolina Field of Honor has been an annual tradition in Downtown Fayetteville. The Cool Spring Downtown District is proud to work with the Airborne and Special Operations Museum Foundation as a partner in the 12th Annual Field of Honor.

Hundreds of flags will fly on the parade grounds of the Airborne and Special Operations Museum. Each flag comes with its own story and displays a tag identifying both the person who sponsored the flag and the flag honoree. This living display of heroism flies as a patriotic tribute to the strength and unity of Americans, and honors all who are currently serving, those that have served, and the men and women who have made the supreme sacrifice for our nation’s security and freedom.

Flags will proudly display the name of its sponsor and honoree on the Parade Field of the U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum.

Freedom Float For The Fallen – Spring Lake Outpost

May 25, 2018 | 6 pm

Join us for our second annual Freedom Float For The Fallen Memorial Day event. This is a sunset kayaking paddle down the Little River on the eve of Memorial Day to honor our military men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Kayakers will begin paddling at 6 PM followed by a candle release upon return to the start point after sunset. All participants (kayakers & any community member who wishes to attend) will be given a floating candle and release them onto the river after sunset. Each candle will be dedicated to a fallen comrade, friend, or family member. Participants will launch the candles to adorn the Little River.

For kayakers, the route is 3 miles and takes 1.5 hours to paddle. Kayakers will be picked up and transported back to the start point where they will join the candle release.

Tickets include a kayak, paddle, life jacket, transportation, and of course a floating candle dedicated to a loved one. This event is family and pet-friendly.
