To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. Isaiah 61:3 (KJV)
I heard this scripture about a month ago as one of a speaker’s reference texts. As we read it aloud I kept thinking how uneven an exchange this was. God was giving all goodness in exchange for all the sadness that the people were experiencing and carrying in their lives. I kept going back to this scripture long after the message was over. What a mighty God we serve that He is more than willing to take on our weights and give us His peace ad blessings in exchange. All so we can be called ‘trees of righteousness’ and bring Glory to Him.
Beauty For Ashes – I can look back on my life and see where God has replaced the ashes of my destructive choices and rebellious ways with beauty of a life on a path of destined purpose with Him.
Joy For Mourning – Times when I sat mourning over things and situations I thought were denied me and then God came and took that away giving me instead Joy for the blessings and doors He had already planned to open.
Praise For Heaviness – The weight of the heaviness I would carry when I allowed life and it’s worries to become to much and then the release I would feel as God brought in the Spirit of Praise and allowed to me to cast all my cares on Him.
In all His giving I realized that in reality I always did more of the taking. The exchange was uneven but His promises were still being fulfilled within my life and the plans He had for me were coming to past in spite of myself. Don’t get me wrong, my fee will was always there but those times when my choices were on a path of nothing but destruction God was always there to pick me up, heal my wounds and guide me back to what was best for me.
So today for my #828Blessings I take a moment to pause and simply say Thank You for a God who doesn’t mind an Uneven Exchange but thinks solely of my good and the path meant for my success.
How balanced is your exchange with God?
Do you always offer as much as you receive?
When do you pause to simply say Thank You?

I really like this post, Tiffany. How often we forget that the tradeoff is unbalanced! We get the better end of the bargain every time. It's cause for us to pause and give Him praise for His endless goodness and mercy.

Thanks so much. We really do forget how easy we have it. Our portion of the relationship is so simple and all we have to do is accept Him and His promises.
