I hope that everyone had a wonderful and Blessed Christmas full of…well what else!?! Love, Life and Laughter of course! Β π
This Holiday week of #AskAwayFriday I am swapping with the lovely Anne from Annie’s Blog of Love. Β How great a name is that? Β Annie is a 57 and proud of it! Β Why shouldn’t she be? She is a great woman who is very loving. Β She enjoysΒ decoupage, fabric painting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, mainly cross stitch, computer generated cards, and probably a few she hasn’t mentioned..she seems to be a woman of many talents! Β She and her husband have also started a craft business making things like stencils, rubber stamps and wooden cut outs. Β So if you want to get a bit of love and a virtual hug stop by and seeAnnie’s Blog of Love!
Β
How are you spending Christmas?
We spent Christmas at home surrounded by family. Β No rush, no pressure…just us and our loved ones. Β The best way I think to spend a day that is built on the greatest gift love ever gave.
Do you open your gifts on Christmas day or on Christmas Eve?
As a child my Grandmother always let me open one gift on Christmas Eve but I always wait until Christmas morning with my Kiddies. Β This year however with all the Kiddies home we let the Teenagers open theirs Christmas Eve at midnight and then the Kiddies opened theirs as usual in the morning (the very very early morning…LOL).
What Christmas traditions does your family have?
Just our ornament tradition of getting a new one (or one for each Kiddies) each year. Β Other than that we are pretty low-key. Β We are always together Christmas Day and spend the day simply enjoying and being together.
What is your favorite movie for this time of year?
My favorite movie has become Polar Express with Tom Hanks and his many animated roles. Β I love the message and the way it is given. Β My kiddies actually get it and it is so heartwarming to see it when they do.
Do you have a big traditional Christmas dinner,
and who attends if you do?
Nope. LOL. Β Can you tell I’m happy about that? Β Hubby cooked this year and we had 2 roasted chickens veggies, roasted potatoes and rice. Β There was no major rush or time set and we just ate and talked with each other. Β It was just US – Hubby, I, Kiddies. Β I Loved It. π
Do you go to a church service Christmas eve,
Christmas morning, both or not at all?
Neither. Β Mainly because our Kiddies that are in college and live in NY come down and we only have a few days with them. Β They usually arrive Christmas Eve and we have to go get them so time is very limited.
What is your favorite Christmas song?
I shared this last week during the Holiday Favs #TunesdayTuesdayHop! Β I love Nat King Cole’s Christmas Son! Β Every year when my Grandmother started playing this it was the official signal that Christmas was on it’s way!
What is your favorite thing to with your children at this time of year?
To simply BE with them. Β No distractions, no time restraints or pressures. Β To enjoy their enjoyment of the time, day and each other. Β It’s truly my favorite time of the year.
What is your favorite Christmas book?
Hmmm…this is a tough one. Β We read so much in our home that picking one is really difficult. Β Plus we have explore a few new one’s this year. Β I would say the traditional favorite is ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas.
Are you going to have a white Christmas or not?
Unfortunately NOT. Β We live in NC and just last week it was 70+ degrees! Β Although the temp did drop back to a semi-normal Winter 40 degrees we didn’t see any snow and rarely do. Β Even if we did we didn’t leave the house so it probably didn’t really matter π
This was a fun recap to Christmas Day and I hope you enjoyed it. Β Now don’t forget to stop byAnnie’s Blog of Love and see what I asked her about…
Also, Β if you loveΒ #AskAwayFridayΒ and would like to participate feel free to contact Penny over atΒ Real Housewife of Caroline County, drop me a message in the comments, through myΒ Contact MeΒ or through any of the participating Bloggers and we’ll be sure to let you know how to get started and get connected.

Welcome to Week 11 of #AskAwayFriday!! Please meet our wonderful co-hosts for the month of October! Wendy from EffieGirl Tiffany from MrsTeeLoveLifeLaughter […]
We decided after our son was born to stay at home on Christmas Day rather than traveling. Best decision ever! We sometimes have family come over to our house, and sometimes not. But it's so nice to not have to pack up and spend our holiday on the road!
We always read Twas The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve. This year I also added in The Dinosaur's Night Before Christmas – it's a cute story about the dinosaurs at a museum coming alive on Christmas Eve. Having two little boys – it was a big hit!!

Haha! i love how you say he was born to stay home…cute! Yes I think Kids deserve to spend their Christmas at home too…somehow it just works out better for the parents π
The dinosaur version of that books sounds great! I ay have to look that up next year for my Buddie! π
We had a very relaxed Christmas this year, too. And I think we'll do it that way from now on! There was no rush to cook up anything or be anywhere and I loved it.
We love The Polar Express around here, too. My babies are the ones that suggested we watch it this year. They love it and are always trying to explain things about the movie to me lol.

I love relaxed days. We are a big movie buff family. Polar Express is definitely a fav… Ours got scratched somehow so we had to load it up but we still watched it for sure π
I'm all about a low-key Christmas too. It's much more fun that way. I also love The Christmas Song, particularly Nat King Cole's version. I still need to see The Polar Express! LOL

It truly is. It has been so much fun to simply relax. No rush, no pressure no fuss. Just family, fun and love π I love Nat King Cole’s voice…it’s so smooth LOL oh yes you must see it! Unfortunately our DVD got scratched at some point during our last move so we had to rely on TV showings this year but I will DEFINITELY be replacing it ASAP…
This is the first year we had a week-long Christmas. We spent most of the day at home and then went to my Mom's house later in the evening. So, our kids day had a chance to plat with their toys before meeting up with the rest of our family. Next year I'm going to plan a much simpler meal, I spent too much time in the kitchen this year.

wow! I know it was the best, right? Somehow trying to squeeze such a fun and family oriented holiday into one day is so hard! I\’m glad you had a week this year and that you got to spend it with family π Yes, a simple meal makes it so much easier on yourself and a lot more enjoyable π
Im so jealous of everyone that said they had a low-key holiday and they were on their own time! I so wish my holiday was like that. I went over my sisters for brunch then over my husbands family's house in the afternoon…by 8 we are DONE!!! Emma was super sleepy, and cranky and so are her parents! LOL!!!!

Aww! Maybe you can have a more intimate holiday next year? Perhaps do all the family stuff on Christmas Eve day? LOL I’ve been there before but I am glad we are at the point where we can have the ‘low key’ holiday…it is definitely a lot less stressful…and cranky π
Hi,
thanks for this. Your answers are wonderful and we are very alike, love to be with our families. The only difference is the four of us that are the only family round here close enough to get together, decided to be lazy and not cook, so we all had a loverley time out at Backsberg Wine estate, isn't it great to be with family.
I hope that you have a wonderful day and weekend.
Love and best wishes.
Anne
Happy Ask Away Friday, Mrs. Tee! I can't escape the craziness of parties and chaos during Christmas so I love that you have a low-key Christmas where you can just BE with your kids at home. I guess it comes with the territory of being part of a large family. And 70+ degree weather?! We're single digits here by the Chi. Siiiigh.

Hi! Happy #AskAwayFriday Gracielle π I have to escape! Thanksgiving is so hectic that by Christmas I NEED to relax…LOL yes 70+ but by Christmas day it was closer to 40 but no snow π LOL
We hang out at home for Christmas too. I love the low-key no fuss vibe of spending that time with my family. We don't do a big Christmas dinner either. I go all out for Thanksgiving so on Christmas we have something very laid back and effortless like tacos.

I love the fact that you're spending Christmas with just your family because that's how I spent mine too. π No stress, no pressure.. Love it!
Thank You! That’s exactly why…. It’s so peaceful and relaxing π
I am kinda thankful that we didn't have a White Christmas, it gets kinda crazy when you can't travel safely because of the snow and ice.

True. Safety is definitely a larger priority. We stay home though so a bit of the white stuff would have been nice π

Aren\’t the lazy holidays the best? I love them! Hubby cooked this year plus we snacked all day… Nothing like family time π
