?If you could give your beginner blogger self a bit of advice, what would it be?
I actually still see myself as my ‘beginner blogger self’ since I’ve only been blogging 5 months (today actually). Still, the advice I would give any beginner blogger is to be yourself at all times in all ways. From your site design to the way you word your writing. Blogging is from the core about sharing parts of yourself with others. Whether your motivation is to create friends, readers or even income the base design is to draw people in with who you are. How can you do that successfully if the person you present isn’t your true self?
?You and your husband are going almost ten years strong and counting! I love it! What would you say is the “glue” that keeps you guys together?
I know it may sound cheesy or even cliche but Love. Without our love there are many situations and circumstances that I think we both would have simply walked away from. There are times in even the best person’s life where you feel like you have simply reached your limit. It’s then when love can become that extension of strength, endurance and even patience that you may not extend to someone you didn’t truly care about.
?It’s so cool that you’re in NC, too! If you could pick one spot here in NC to show me a good time, where would it be and why?
I didn’t even realize you were in NC! That’s great! Honestly though, I live in a sort of bubble. I don’t venture that far beyond my immediate surroundings and when I do they are mostly centered around Kiddie entertainment and activities. Hmmm. I know we would have a bit of coffee (or a non coffee beverage if you prefer) at Starbucks…they are like my most favorite spot ever! LOL I would probably take you on base to take advantage of some Tax Free shopping and then over to the local mall. Can you tell I’m a woman who loves to shop (even if it is through the windows)? I would end our day at a great restaurant because don’t all great days end with great food?!?!? π
?If your life had a soundtrack, what would be the first three songs on the list and why? I think I always ask this question LOL.
Wow! This is a tough one considering Hubby and I are both major music lovers and our combined playlist our enormous! So, to make it a bit easier and since you asked for 3 I’ll break them down the same way I break down my life….
Love:
Love On Top – Beyonce
Life:
Just Fine – Mary J. Blige
Laughter:
Gummy Bear Song – I Don’t Know Who Did This But My Kiddies LOVE It! π
?What was your most memorable birthday like?
I would have to say my 32nd in 2010. It was the year my Hubby returned from his deployment and I got to spend 2 weeks alone with him in Hawaii before we moved back for our station there. I was almost 6 months preggers and we spent most of the time looking for a house BUT on my birthday we went out to dinner, walked the beach and were just together as US. I had missed him to the point where it was painful and getting off that plain and seeing him there waiting for me was more joy than I have had outside of the birth of my Kiddies.
?Where is the most beautiful place you’ve ever been?
Hawaii. We were stationed there for 3 years and we lived there for 2. My 2 youngest Kiddies were born there and it is a beautiful island with beautiful people. I would love to live there again if given the opportunity.
?Do you have any resolutions or goals for the new year? If so, tell me about a couple of them π
I haven’t actually made any resolutions for a few years. They were always so unattainable and made in the moment. So, this year I came upon a post by a fellow Blogger, Michelle, over at DivasWithAPurpose which outlined the idea of selecting a word for the year and focusing on achieving that word’s purpose in your life. I outline my word and the details HERE.
?I see we both have lots in common, even the fact that we were both assistants in a College Admissions Office. Tell me one thing about yourself that you’ve never shared on your blog.
You were?!?!? That is so cool!!! Now, something I haven’t already shared….hmm. The only thing I can think of is that before I found out that I was pregnant with my oldest, I had been accepted and was planning on attending college at an Historically Black College/University. It was going to be my big chance to move away from and out from under what I considered to be my Grandmother’s thumb.
Once I found out I was pregnant, needless to say those plans came to an end. Now my son is planning on attend an HBCU and I feel as if despite my being unable to go through with my own plans my life has come full circle and to be able to see him do it is such a proud Momma moment and blessing it makes everything worth it.
?I love your 8:28 Blessings segment on your blog. How did you come up with the concept?
Thank You So Much! It came to me during a time of meditation and just reflective thought. I wanted a way to share my love for the text Romans 8:28 as well as a way to offer my readers a place to share their own personal blessing experiences.
Since starting the #828Blessings Social Share I have gone through some ups and downs, revision and rethinks and even a few lapses (Holiday season took over a bit) but I still have a place for it in my heart and until I feel otherwise I plan on trying to keep it going. You can read the entire story of how #828Blessings came about HERE.
?If you could get one thing for Christmas, and money was no object whatsoever, what would it be?
I’ve received so many of my Christmas wishes this year including my iPad Air, 2 pairs of UGG boots, some really great outfits and most recently a great Christmas Blessing from ZaggDaily of a Zagg Folio Keyboard for my iPad Air! I’m really a bit overwhelmed. The only things that were left on my list are some Sperry TopSider shoes and a Pottery Barn CableKnit Sweater Blanket. Still…without those things my Christmas has been beyond blessed.
On top of my Hubby gifting me with the things I wanted the most this year, my Kiddies are receiving their greatest wishes and my biggest wish of all will be granted: seeing their smiling faces on Christmas Day and having our Lazy Christmas Day at home.
Now it’s time for you to go over to and see what MISS DRE had to say for the questions I came up with for her…

I love the fact that you have the gummybear song in your soundtrack. I think we always could use some lightening up and not take things so seriously. Life is to be lived, not endured.
I hope you have a terrific 2014!
Such amazing answers! I dream of being able to view a sunrise or sunset on the beach with my hubby, hopefully I will be able to realize that dream very soon. That truly sounds like my kind of awesome birthday celebration! Congrats on 10 years! Isn't it funny how sometime the songs that our kids like end up trickling down to us! LOL! Have a great week!

It is amazing…a trip to someplace exotice or tropical is a definite To Do for any couple. I pray you get to do it very soon π Well we haven\’t made the big 10 of marriage just yet (August of 2014) but we\’ve been together nearly 13 …:) Yes my kiddies definitely influence my music tastes a bit more than I like at times…LOL
I really enjoyed reading these responses. I really love that song "Love on Top". I was touched by your most memorable birthday. Hawaii is indeed a beautiful place. I remember when I took a trip there I met several corporate executives that told me they came there on vacation, called their jobs and said they quit. They were selling surfboards on the beach and seemed so happy. That really says a lot about Hawaii and the peaceful culture there.
My recent post Seeing Red…
Thank You! I had that for my ringtone for a long time…it\’s such a great beat and the words mean something too…a rare combination nowadays! LOL π
Aaaah…my Aloha Home…we loved it there and would move back at some point…we talk about it often. It is truly a lovely place with lovely people. I saw many soldiers who did the same thing.
I played along with ONE WORD for 2013 and it really helped me remain focused. I think a lot of bloggers do it instead of making goals/resolutions. I've never seen an official link up or anything before, so I am going to have to check that out!
That is so exciting that your son is going to attend the college you want to. I'm on a mission to finish up my degree before Malone gets to college age. We'll see if it happens, I guess. I have such mixed feelings about college these days. It is SO EXPENSIVE and right now I'm living my dreams without a degree. Maybe college isn't for me afterall…

i saw it on a few Blogs as well but could never find the source of it and how to follow or ‘play’ along π I’m so glad I came across Michelle and DivasWithAPurpose…this way I can have somewhere to connect throughout the year. A bit of support can go a long way especially when it comes to trying to change your habits or way of doing things.
He’s actually choosing a college from a group of colleges that are Historically Black which is what I planned on doing as well so I am so proud of him. He is pursuing his dreams and to me that is the most important thing. I still need to finish a portion of my 2nd Degree but yes I do understand how it can be daunting with the costs these days especially when you can accomplish your goals based on experience at times. I have always been forever-a-student though so I get joy in the simple act of learning…LOL NerdGirl at Heart π
Wow, I'm honestly teary-eyed upon reading your best birthday moment. I just couldn't imagine being away from my husband for such a long time and you did! I'm glad you were able to spend time together though! π Hawaii sounds like a great place to live in. I have some friends who migrated there and I envy their beach moments! Gaahh π

Awww Thanks! It was really a great moment. I never realized how much I missed him until I saw him…not sure if that makes sense…LOL It could\’ve been a bit of the preggo hormones too π
Yes! Hawaii is absolutely amazing…we often say we would move back there in the future for sure.
Tiffany, I can't believe you've only been blogging for five months! You are quite the pro, my dear. It's good to see two of my favorite bloggers doing Ask Away Friday! Drea and I will be doing AAF next week, on my birthday!

Yes Maam…5 months as of Friday…LOL Thank you so much…I see myself as far from that but it truly means a lot coming from someone whom I admire so much! Ooooh! That should definitely be a fun pair up! I can\’t wait π Happy early Birthday Lovie!
I always love reading your answers!!! I love "Love on Top" and Im not a big Beyonce fan at all but that one is a good one. Bruno Mars is also very good! You have had a very good Christmas so far…but I know the feeling of seeing the kids with smiles on their face takes the cake for the best gift of all!!!

I loved your answers! My oldest daughter loves The Gummy Bear Song – even in all the different languages. And 2010 sounds like it was the best birthday!
I loved reading your responses, Tee! Reading your birthday memory really made me smile. I know you were in heaven for those two weeks!
Wow, we have so much in common! I started my education at an HBCU, but had to leave for personal reasons. When I planned my return for the next semester, I found out I was pregnant with my oldest. I guess that's why I'm so set on wanting them to attend one. I'm usually in my own bubble too, so when I venture off on my own all I think about is shopping and dining out lol.
I love the way you answered the soundtrack question. As a fellow music lover, I was anticipating how you would answer π Just Fine was my ringtone for the longest. Hearing that song always makes me feel optimistic about life.
A while ago when I participated in Rosetta Thurman's 31 Day Reset, she used the concept of selecting a word for the year also. I find that much easier than creating resolutions I'm gonna forget in March. Last year, I wanted to lose weight– I ended up having a baby lol. All in all, I may be jumping on your bandwagon with defining my purpose with a word instead of creating resolutions for next year. Heading over to read that post in a few.
This was such a fun swap! That birthday is definitely one I would hold dear…preggers and all we had a blast and it was kinda our last bit of us time before the baby and getting back to reality. LOL
Yes, it really seems we do! I am so proud of my son for wanting to attend an HBCU and I couldn\’t be happier for how great he has done and what he has accomplished. We started out just me and him and have come a long way since so when graduation day comes I know I may be a wreck but I will have earned it…LOL π
Yes, I am definitely a \’bubble\’ kinda gal…often mis-read and misinterpreted even misunderstood so finding someone who gets me is rare.I would love if we could meet up some time (the other BloggerBFFs and I are trying to get an East Coast Blogger Meet together…I will be sure to let you know when/where so perhaps you can join us π ) Shopping and Dining are always on my Favs list!
