2 Daisies And A Leader – Cookie Booth Adventures

As part of the Girl Scouts of North Carolina Coastal Pines  with Cookie Season comes Cookie Booth Season and our Girls were beyond excited for the start of both.  Except Mother Nature had other plans for us and so began our Cookie Booth Adventures.

Our very first Cookie Booth we we caught in a rain storm.  It was a non-stop mist for about the first hour and a half and then it turned into a downpour.  The location we were at was great about letting us place our table under the awning and very close to the door still as a Leader I had to make the call to end a bit early.  Despite our early end the Troop did very well and received both donations and successful sales.

From this point forward we knew that we would have to be prepared for almost anything.  Luckily a few of our future scheduled booths were indoors so we were able to go forward and with success without any interference from the weather.  That is until the Polar Vortex decided to make an appearance in North Carolina.  The entire state and many counties were completely shut down to avoid dangerous road conditions and hazards.  This meant so were our booths.

Once the weather began to break we realized that many of our Girls were now making up the Snow Days they enjoyed by attending school on Saturdays.  Which meant that they would not be able to make Cookie Booth.  What were we to do?  Move forward.  Instead of simply giving up we canceled the booths we needed to but made sure to keep the one we could as well.  This means we are now doing booths on Sunday but our Girls are willing and ready to make those sales…why?  They are Cookie Bosses!

Girl Scouts of NC Coastal Pines also understood the impact the weather had on our sales and abilities to get out there and extended the Cookie Season to help each Troop reach and attain their goals.  So we are now ready and excited to go through these last days and reach our goals!

Oh how I know the Polar Vortex all too well! We had a nice gripe with it down here in Ga. I'm glad your girls are still getting their sales and support, despite some of the set backs you all encountered. Good luck with the rest of your season. I wish your girls much success…and life lessons learned. Your setting a wonderful example as a leader! 🙂
