The last time I wrote I talked about the changes our Troop was going through. Since that time, we have experienced a few more changes including Merging with a smaller Troop, adding their 2 Leaders to our Team, including 4 New Girls in the Troop. In addition we are all excited to return from Holiday break and prepare for this year’s Cookie Season!
As Leaders we merged our own goals, ideas and thoughts for both Troops and decided to move forward into 2014 with excitement, energy and confidence that we would succeed in all of them. The first step:
Our Local NCCoastal Pines Girl Scouts Cookie Rally!
We met with other Local Area Troops for a night of fun and learning for our Girls. The Girls went through a series of ‘stations’ where they learned the skills needed for a successful Cookie Season.
Safety
This year in addition to our Booths, we are going door-to-door and NC Coastal Pines Girl Scouts provided a Law Enforcement Officer to instruct the Girls on the Safety Guidelines for staying safe while doing so.
♥Stay with your Leader
♥Always have a Buddy
♥Be aware of their surroundings
♥Put away your money
♥Alert someone if you feel unsafe
♥How to call 911
Cookie Knowledge
Senior and Cadet Girl Scouts explained the names and flavors of the cookies so that our Girls would know how to sell them to potential customers. They also were given samples to taste.
Finance
This station taught the Girls how much each box was sold for and how to add up the cost for multiple boxes. It also emphasized how the Girls could save their earnings towards goals at the end of the Cookie Season such as prizes and even Superstar Destinations: selling 500+ boxes and earn admission tickets to theme parks, restaurant gift cards, movie passes and so much more!
Learning and seeing the possibilities of the Cookie Sale was so exciting for the Girls they are ready to go and so are we as Leaders!
…see where their determination and confidence can take them.

Oh my goodness you post just made my day! I buy Girl Scout Cookies every year, love my Trefoils (or Shortbread) and Thin Mints. I'll definitely we on the lookout this year for Girl Scouts in my local area to buy cookies and support. 🙂

Yay! I\’m glad…All Girl Scouts definitely need as much support as possible! It\’s amazing how far a great Cookie Season can take a Troop throughout the rest of the year 😀
I think that teaching them safety is a great idea. And I just adore me some tag alongs.

Yes. I\’m glad our Council emphasized that. Tag-a-Longs are Yummy!
I remember selling girl scout cookies door to door in the cold when I was a kid. I haven't had a Girl Scout cookie in a couple of years. I always miss them when they are in front of Wal-Mart. However, I'd like to try the gluten-free chocolate chip cookie.

This is our first year doing door-to-door but only as a Troop and group. We still do our booths in front of Wal*Mart 🙂 We make our best sales there! Yes we are introducing those this year. You can order with me if you\’d like.
I love the idea of having a law enforcement officer talk to them about safety! We have quite a few Girl Scouts we buy from. Mostly kids that are friends of my kids. Can't wait for our cookies!
I did too! I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about door-to-door but they have taken every step to prepare and protect each Girl…
