Living by faith means trusting God’s plans in the good and in the bad. The times when you see your blessings in your every day and the times when you can’t see the light for the dark of life’s trials. It’s in those times you have to trust the most that HE planned for this.
Yet the true test of faith is when you can’t see the good. When the plan doesn’t seem clear or even when there doesn’t seem to be one at all.
Here’s the thing. That’s not who I am. I’m the type of person who needs order, strategy, logic and most of all a plan. Walking into the unknown for me is one of the most uneasy and scary things. Yet that’s where faith comes in, right?
I try. I promise I do but I admit it, my faith is probably a bit closer to mustard seed size. I honestly think it may be why God tends to teach most of my lessons in the midst of the unknown. In the moments when I have no choice but to rely on his plan and not my own – those are the moments my faith is forced to be at it’s strongest.
He knows if I can see what’s ahead, know the plan and know all the things I tend to trust in me instead of Him. I know bad Christian but an honest one just the same. I am guilty of giving myself the credit for things God has done. I repent and most times learn I had little to nothing to do with it but the mistake still happens from time to time.
Yet when I rely on Him fully in spite of the unclear paths ahead that’s when my faith is strengthened and refined. That’s when I see Him for who He really is! The all-knowing, all-powerful and might God who works all things together for my good (Romans 8:28).
As I sit here reflecting on the lessons I’ve learned even within the past year I begin to see HE planned for this. He knew every trial, struggle, heartache, and hurt would bring me to my victory, peace, and healing. Through the plans He’s fulfilled in my life I have gained a new understanding of an all too familiar text.
Jeremiah 29:11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
