Today’s Challenge: If you could hang out with a celebrity for a day, who would that celebrity be? Why did you choose to hang out with him/her? What would you do or where would you spend that day?
This is the definition of the word Celebrity according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. When I saw today’s challenge I had an internal ‘sigh’. I like celebrities and famous people for their talent but there aren’t really any that I would say I want to ‘hang out’ with or even seek out to spend a day with. Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of certain actors, actresses, singers, etc. and if I happened to meet one it would be really cool. Still would I choose to hang out with one in particular? Not really. So, what makes a celebrity?
I figured if I could find out exactly what made a celebrity then I could figure out if this would be a challenge I would even be able to take part in. When I saw the definition I got excited.
The first part says the state of being celebrated to me that describes one person in my life: God. Each time I share His gospel through my testimony and keep His instructions to be an example of His Word, He is being celebrated through my life. There. That is the first part of the definition.
The second part says a famous or celebrated person. Who is more famous than God? I know all people may not believe in Him in the same manner or even with the same foundation of beliefs that I do yet fame is simply being well know and recognizable on a large scale, right? Who fits that better than God? He is also celebrated because whenever something goes right (and yes unfortunately at times wrong) who is the first person people tend to call on? God.
So, today my celebrity is God and I don’t have to choose to hang out with Him because I have the honor of having Him with me on a daily basis. I love waking up to Him in the Sunlight through my windows, the breeze outside and the smiles on my Kiddies faces. Each day I spend time with Him through my worship, meditation and praise. I choose Him simply because He chose me and I am forever grateful.
