The Senior Year Saga Continues…

Alright.  I know that learning how to drive, Driver’s Ed and all that is simply a right of passage.  Yet for some reason I’ve been trying to prolong it and keep it as far away from happening as possible.  Why?  It’s just too much!  This entire year is an emotional roller coaster and with driving the Senior year saga continues to rage on and weaken my hold on my sanity!

I’ve handled Senior Picture Day, Senior Night at the final game (whew that one was a true brace myself night) and I’ve even handled his first Senior overnight more than an hour away trip!  Now a few days after he gets home we get his Learner’s Permit in the mail.  Aaaah!  What more can a Momma take?

PermitTime

I know what you’re thinking.  I had to know it was coming because he had to take the test first right?  Of course I did!  But I was still in a bit of denial.  For one it was delayed by a week or so and then I dunno him only having that little slip of paper saying he passed still wasn’t as real as an actual card.

Man you should have seen his face when he got home from school and I handed him that envelope!  He felt for the card as soon as he saw DMV as the return address and started grinning just like he used to as a boy.

Except he isn’t a boy anymore, he’s my almost 17 year old Young Man!  Whew! Even writing that makes me take an extra breath.  This all seems to be happening way to fast! Now not only can he practice with my Hubby as always but the State says he can drive On The Road! Like for real!  I guess there is no more stalling allowed.  This is happening with or without me.

My boy is a boy no more and I’m so very proud of him for the Young Man I see coming forth.  I wish him nothing but Blessings and the dreams he wants to all come true.  I pray that all my lessons, rules and guidance has stuck and somewhere in that head of his he knows it was all because I Love Him!

I wonder what else Senior Year has in store for me….?  Stay Tuned!

    I remember I didn't get my license until I was 18! I still had a lot to learn! 😉

Awww! I seriously can't imagine. Reading this, all I can think of is how will I handle it when it's JR?! Can't go there right now! Even though I have about 15 years to go, I still can see what you could be feeling somewhat here and it's bring tears to my eyes!

It\’s simply a very surreal time. Each milestone brings me to a memory of his childhood. I\’m so proud of him but I miss my baby boy at times.

I understand how you feel, my daughter should be driving as well but she doesn't have her permit yet either. I did pay for the course a few months ago and she still hasn't completed it.

Yes. It’s so crazy. He made sure he did everything on time. The delay was on the DMVs part but once that card he was on cloud 9! 🙂

Yikes! I have nieces and nephews who are all turning 17 and 18 now. It is so exciting and sad and somewhat bittersweet. It is like they suddenly grew up overnight. I don't know where the time has gone. I can only imagine how you feel as a mama….
