She always had that about her…

This week has been so hectic and busy that I wanted to take a minute to simply write. Think reflect and write. So I hopped over to my BloggerBFF – Mrs.AOK, A Work In Progress and decided to see what the topic was for her amazingly fun Weekly LinkUp “That’s What She Said”.

This is a fun idea that she and Courtney from What’s Up With The Wilhelms came up with not to long ago. Most times they give you a quote and you get to simple free write how it makes you feel or simply what you think about it. This time around they have given things a bit of a twist and given everyone the chance to choose our own quotes!!

So, I picked this one…

She always had that about her, that look of otherness, of eyes that see things much too far, and of thoughts that wander off the edge of the world.”
― Joanne Harris

This is a quote I saw floating around my Instagram feed a few months ago and I haven’t been able to shake it out of my head since.

She always had that about her

Since I was a child I could always remember people pre-judging who I was or how I was based on the look I always seemed to carry on my face. Back then they called it snotty, stuck-up and probably a few other things. Yet, most times I was honestly in my own world – unaware that anyone was even noticing me…

Read This Too  Dear 2015,

That look of otherness

My own world. I would often sit and daydream of stories I wanted to write, characters I wanted to create and places I wanted to take them. For me any moment of stillness was one where I could escape into my imagination and discover new things and new wonders…

Of eyes that see things much too far

Other times I was in a place where I was trying to escape the confusion and worry of the world around me. I would go to a place of peace where none of that existed. It was where I found my joy and my strength to endure…

And of thoughts that wander off the edge of the world

The freedom to allow my thoughts, dreams and wishes to simply take me as they may was something I treasured far above all other things. I was young but my soul always felt so much older that letting go and simply being wherever my imagination could take me gave me a lightness I longed for.

Thanks so much to Mrs. AOK and Courtney for giving me a place to once again allow my words and thoughts to flow freely…

Fabulous post, Tiffany! Boy oh boy, the amount of things that we seem to have in common. I would escape to my quiet place and daydream stories, read books, or lose myself in music, and I still have a tendency to do so. Have a great week!

we are who we are and changing for anyone else is damaging and horrible. I think the most amazing people are those that just accept who they are and go on with life…their true loves and friends love them for who they are…

This is so true Karen. It took me a while to learn this but now that I have…the freedom is amazing.

What a beautiful quote, Tiffany. This quote makes me daydreaming, too. This quote reminds me of what happened to me last night. I always sleep with music on, and most of the times, the music is just instrumental songs with no lyrics. I love the calming and soothing songs. So, in between being awake and asleep, those songs brought me to faraway lands that only exist in my mind. It was a strange experience, but soothing nonetheless.

Happy to know you're able to take a minute to simply write. 🙂

I thought so too Anita! It just stuck with me for so long. That is so cool! I used to fall asleep the same way…it helped sooth me and clear my mind. I should try doing it again. Thanks so much – I am too – it\’s needed sometimes 😉

Enchanting, thought provoking quote. Almost bewitching isn't it? Sorry your childhood was so melancholy; hopefully your adulthood is filled with people who appreciate the obvious artist you have inside. Enjoyed your post and the quote very much. BB2U

It really is. I had a pretty peaceful childhood but just with a lot of – plot twist – lol. I am happy I came through it all because I wouldn’t be the woman I am without them. I hope so too…thank you so much!!

I love that quote. It speaks much about me too. I do not do much socializing, been actually branded as "anti-social" at one point in time. There are times I seem detached, but that is because I am thinking, really thinking about future plans and what I want do achieve out of my career. I have a lot of "what-if" thoughts and writing has been my outlet. Thanks for your article. I guess I am not alone.

I do too Eileen…it kept haunting me since I saw it the first time. It just felt right to use for this prompt. I know exactly what you mean – the future can be so enchanting 😀 Thanks so much for coming by and no you are definitely not alone!

(I had to switch to my Mac because my iPhone lost my original comment. It was a good one too. WOMP WOMP)
"And of thoughts that wander off the edge of the world"- I'm quite sure I could tattoo this on my forehead. 😀 This quote is perfect! I have never heard it or read it before, thanks for sharing.
I imagine you and I would have got along just fine when we were younger (too)- daydreaming-90's music-loving-wanders 🙂
All that daydreaming and wander-ness has paid off, my friend! BIG THINGS! 😉

Thank you, for joining Courtney and I! I'm so glad you were able to just let go and write. I hope you will join us for #TWSS again. 🙂
    XOXO
