She always had that about her…
This week has been so hectic and busy that I wanted to take a minute to simply write. Think reflect and write. So I hopped over to my BloggerBFF – Mrs.AOK, A Work In Progress and decided to see what the topic was for her amazingly fun Weekly LinkUp “That’s What She Said”.
This is a fun idea that she and Courtney from What’s Up With The Wilhelms came up with not to long ago. Most times they give you a quote and you get to simple free write how it makes you feel or simply what you think about it. This time around they have given things a bit of a twist and given everyone the chance to choose our own quotes!!
So, I picked this one…
She always had that about her, that look of otherness, of eyes that see things much too far, and of thoughts that wander off the edge of the world.”
― Joanne Harris
This is a quote I saw floating around my Instagram feed a few months ago and I haven’t been able to shake it out of my head since.
She always had that about her
Since I was a child I could always remember people pre-judging who I was or how I was based on the look I always seemed to carry on my face. Back then they called it snotty, stuck-up and probably a few other things. Yet, most times I was honestly in my own world – unaware that anyone was even noticing me…
That look of otherness
My own world. I would often sit and daydream of stories I wanted to write, characters I wanted to create and places I wanted to take them. For me any moment of stillness was one where I could escape into my imagination and discover new things and new wonders…
Of eyes that see things much too far
Other times I was in a place where I was trying to escape the confusion and worry of the world around me. I would go to a place of peace where none of that existed. It was where I found my joy and my strength to endure…
And of thoughts that wander off the edge of the world
The freedom to allow my thoughts, dreams and wishes to simply take me as they may was something I treasured far above all other things. I was young but my soul always felt so much older that letting go and simply being wherever my imagination could take me gave me a lightness I longed for.
Thanks so much to Mrs. AOK and Courtney for giving me a place to once again allow my words and thoughts to flow freely…
