So this week I was faced with a dilemma. How to participate in #AskAwayFriday without a partner? I have gotten creative in the past by asking my Readers/Followers for questions on Facebook or even posting a Video Chat. Yet this week I was nearly out of ideas. That’s when my friend Galaxia helped me out by tagging me in The Sisterhood Tag.
This was perfect! Not only is it a 10 question tag but it also gives me the opportunity to share a bit of Sisterhood with my fellow #AskAwayLadies! So, thanks to Galaxia from Galaxia-Dawn for thinking of me and becoming my #AskAwayFriday solution all with one Tag π By the way, Galazia is an amazing person and her place, Galaxia-Dawn, is definitely somewhere you want to visit to get a bit of fashion, beauty and a peek into her lovely life so be sure to head over there in a bit.

Galaxia’s Questions:
1. Whats a little luxury that you treat yourself to after a long day?
Definitely a bit of grown-up TV and maybe a sweet dessert treat with a cup of coffee. Basically a bit of Momma time can go a long way it helping me unwind from a long day.
2. How do you feel about your siblings, or how do you feel about being an only child?
I have 2 sisters and an older half-brother. I was raised by my grandmother and I think because of that we don’t really have a close sibling bond. I love them of course, but they are more like a best friend relationship than the sibling bond i have seen (and admired) between others.
3. Whos your current celebrity crush?!
Hmmm…I don’t think I really have one. I will always love Denzel Washington, Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr. but not in a crush kinda way more in an admiration of talent way.
4. If youre single, is there someone youre wishing would ask you out? If youre taken, how did you and that person decide to be in a relationship (describe the proposal, etc)?
I’m taken – lol. I’m not sure we decided to be in a relationship. We were friends first and our relationship more or less developed from that. We were kinda ‘in one’ without any sort of announcement or decision. I think I like that. We grew into being the partners we are. We have a foundation and everything else came from that.
5. Whats your favorite nail polish shade to wear?
I love a nice deep fuchsia or pink shade. For the fall I usually switch to a maroon or dark burgundy.
6. Show us a piece of jewelry you would love to have!
Oooh! This is my newest pieces from PrettyInPynk and I can’t wait to style them for the SITSGirls Bloggy Boot Camp ATL next week! I already have a great outfit in mind…
7. What kind of cell phone do you have?
The iPhone 6 and I am beyond excited! I Pre-Ordered to skip all the lines and such which meant I waited a few days after release but it was sooooo worth it!
8. Which TV show or movie should I watch when I have the chance?
Well of course SCANDAL and I am actually beginning to like the new Fall show The Mysteries of Laura.
9. What book would you recommend I read before 2014 is over?
I’ve been trying to get through one book for nearly 2 months now: The Fault In Our Stars. I would definitely recommend it and hopefully I can actually finish it sometime soon myself.
10. Have you ever experienced blatant racism or discrimination?
I can’t say I’ve experienced any ‘blatant’ racism or discrimination. I always seem to be the recipient of the more subtle kind. I think this is mainly because most people aren’t exactly sure ‘what I am’ and they try to tip toe around any races they think I may be. It is often annoying because that in itself shows ignorance to me.
As a child and teen, I was often pressured into picking one race to identify with. I even found myself trying to fit in with whichever one I was around. Thankfully I matured. I realized I am all of who I am for a reason. Each part of me is special and deserves to be recognized.
I have had to come up with an answer for the ‘what are you’ question far too many times in my life and eventually began to answer simply: human. It is what we all are after all. I am a mixed race person but that should have no impact on your treatment, judgement or acceptance of me.
I taught my son to respond in the same way. I have always told him to never allow anyone to force him to deny or ignore any part of him because it is all of it that makes him whole.
This Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award and Tag are such an honor to be a part of. I would love to share the fun with a few of my favorite #AskAwayLadies and hope that you would pass it on as well. So, I tag Tamara of Tamara Like Camera, Stacey of This Momma’s Ramblings, Christy of Uplifting Families, Rabia of the Lieber Family, Amber of Bold Fit Mom and a few of my Blogger Buddies – Mrs. AOK or Mrs.AOK, A Work In Progress, Natasha of Epic Mommy Adventures, Tenns of New Mama Diaries, April of 100lb Countdown and Clarissa of the Green Eyed Lady.
