I have been connecting with Lisa this month CoHosting a wonderful LinkUp she started with Rabi from The Liebers called #TuesdayTen. I have had such fun because you get to make a list of 10 things from the various (and unique) prompts they come up with every week. Trust me, if you haven’t joined them yet you need to add it to your Must Do List! I’m not sure if Lisa did this intentionally or if it just happened but she had a theme of three in my questions this week and I found it kinda cool
Now it’s question time and I can’t wait to get started. Oh and let me know if you can pick out the theme of three that Lisa intertwined within my questions…
- Tell me about the history of your blog. How/why/when did you start blogging?
- How: I started Blogging after a lot of thought a research. If you know me I rarely do anything spontaneous and this was no different. I Googled and searched every aspect of Blogging and how to do it successfully. That’s when I purchased my domain and started my design.
- Why: I was interested in Blogging initially as a way to bring in a bit of extra income, you know for the little things that I didn’t want to touch the household money for. Then I realized it could be so much more than that. I had lost my voice and even my audience in my ministry because of how often we moved and I saw Blogging as a way to let my voice be heard by someone other than my reflection in the mirror ๐
- When: So, after all my stalking of Bloggers and communities and deciding it was something I really wanted to do I officially launched my Blog on my 35th Birthday last year, 2013.
- You do a lot of vlogs. What advice would you give to a blogger who wanted to try vlogging?
- I’ve only recently gotten to a point where I am truly trying to extend my Brand and presence into YouTube. I truly feel that it is a great way to take your Blog further than your domain URL.
- I think anyone who truly want to VLOG can do it. I was scared, nervous and intimidated but the more I do it the more comfortable I feel. As my comfort level increases so does my confidence which helps my result to improve. There really is nothing to Vlogging but to Do It. Think of it as having a conversation with your readers, just you and them. Just chat about you, your life, your thoughts…whatever.
- I can’t wait until summer break, but my kids still have three more weeks of school! Do you have any big plans for the summer?
- I think we have about three weeks until my Kiddies are done as well. We actually have a lot going on this year for summer:
- The Teenager’s High School Graduation
- Dance Recitals
- My first Blogger Meet Up
- Our Very First Disney Trip!
- I think we have about three weeks until my Kiddies are done as well. We actually have a lot going on this year for summer:
- My oldest is only 11, but you have a teenager. What parenting advice would you give me as we move deeper into adolescence and closer to the teen years?
- Breathe. I often find myself taking a minute in a room, alone, just to take a breath. It can become overwhelming. Their personalities seem to change over night and at times I feel like someone swapped out my kid. That is until I share moment with him where I still see glimpses of my Baby Boy. He’s still in there. They will always be there but they are trying to deal with the changes they are feeling and sometimes they are just as overwhelmed as we are.
- Be Patient. Don’t think things will always be stressful or full of the Teenager woes. It passes. I promise ๐
- Love On. Teenagers are often full of feelings and emotions they just can’t find the words to express. Love them even more and let them know that even when their words fail you will still be there.
- I have all daughters, but you have some of each! What is the biggest difference in raising boys vs. raising girls?
- I honestly don’t see a major difference. I find that there is a greater difference simply in personalities than in gender. Our girls can be just as rough as the boys and our boys just as sensitive as the girls. I parent the kid more than I do girl or boy. I just think it’s easier ๐
- You have lived in New York, Hawaii, and North Carolina. Which one was your favorite and why?
- Wow! Hard one. I can pick my favorite thing from each one because I don’t think I can choose just one to love over the others ๐
- New York
- The food. I Love my New York dishes there are just certain foods that don’t taste the same anywhere else. I listed the all in detail in this #AskAwayFriday but mainly pizza, beef patties, chinese food and jamaican food Oh My! ๐
- North Carolina
- The slowed down pace of things. I love that it is for the most part peaceful and quite after 6pm and even though having a late night out can be difficult the southern life definitely suits me.
- Hawaii
- The Weather, the Food and the Aloha Spirit. The weather in Hawaii was true perfection. No true Winter, always warm and never humid because of the constant ocean breezes. I loved it and would move back if every given the opportunity. It is like the best of the South and New York all in one state.
- I know your faith is a very important part of your life. Do you have a favorite scripture?
- Yes! My faith is truly my foundation and has helped me to become the woman, wife, mother and friend I am today. My favorite scripture is Romans 8:28:
- You have been a SAHM for several years now. Is there anything you miss about the corporate world?
- The only thing I could say I really miss are my daily interactions with ADULTS…LOL Being a SAHM your main contact is with Kiddies. There are times I try to think when I had a full blown grown up conversation (not cartoons, toys or play talk). Beyond that I love my SAHM life and would never trade the moments I’ve gained with my Kiddies for anything.
- I have always wished I could sing. Do you have any hidden talents or are there any special talents you wish you had?
- I wish I was a bit more athletic. I seriously have the worst coordination and sports ability and I would love to be able to do more sports based activities with my Kiddies. I can’t even ride a bike! LOL I know, sad. ๐
- If you could only listen to three songs for the rest of you life, which three would you choose?
- Wow! Love this!
Lisa had some really great questions! Were you able to see the theme of three? Don’t forget to head over to visit Lisa and see what I had to ask her and how she answered.
