Timing

It’s all in the timing. Right? I mean that’s what people say but let’s be honest when you want something you kinda want it right then. Waiting isn’t generally at the top of the list of things to do for most folks. Well at least not this girl.

I’m that person who sets goals and has a time check for each one. When I don’t check things off as quickly as I feel I should I feel disappointed, frustrated and dissatisfied.

As a Christian I’ve had to learn – at times the hard way – it’s not about my timing. Whew! Even typing that messes with the logic of who I am.

I’m very organized, get it done kinda girl. Yet in Christ, the order of things isn’t always logical. He can see far beyond our plans beyond the seen of our lives. Christ’s time is unlike any other.

Where I see deadlines and goals He sees faith building and trust. When I feel I’m behind schedule He knows everything is working right on time.

So how do I get past my timing and move into the peace of His? Faith. Faith in knowing the promises He’s made over my life Can Not fail. Faith in the grace He gives in spite of my rushing things. Faith to believe it’s is always my good He is preparing for – even in the midst of a wait.

Now I’m not saying this timeless faith is easy. It isn’t. I get frustrated. I get anxious and yes I worry. Yet here’s the catch: I don’t dwell in those places. I no longer allow those feeling to hinder my progression. Instead, I listen for His words. I look for the signs and confirmations of where He is placing me and when.

In those things I find peace. I see the plan He is working on my behalf. It helps me release the frustration, anxiety, and worry and replace them with trust, hope and encouragement.

How do you react to God’s timing?
