WIDU 60th Anniversary Celebration

Press/Media Coverage Disclosure

Each year the WIDU Anniversary Celebration is one of the most attended events at The Crown Complex and Expo Center. Drawing crowds from not only Fayetteville but communities as far out as Raleigh, Durham and Johnston County!

WEDO Radio Network

WIDU is a locally owned Radio Station that broadcasts from Fayetteville to Cumberland County and its surrounding communities. The WEDO Radio Network and WIDU Owners Wes & Sandy Cookman have a true heart for their community. Working to bring the love of God to as many as they can through inspirational music, talk shows, and events. The WIDU Anniversary brings some of the most beloved and successful Christian Artists to a community who’s religious foundation is one that can be felt throughout the audience.

“Over 30 years ago we came to Fayetteville and WIDU with a dream and a vision. We cam because we wanted to serve this community. We hoped to make this radio station 24/7 gospel and become an important part of this community not just playing music.”

Wes & Sandy Cookman

I would say the Cookman’s vision has definitely become this community’s reality. WIDU Celebrated 60 Years of service and community in Fayetteville this over an entire week of events focused on building our community through entertainment and encouragement.

This year I had the opportunity to attend the Prayer Breakfast with Guest Speaker Bishop Paul S. Morton and Performance by Artist Benita Jones. This was my very first time attending but I know it will not be my last. From start to finish you could feel a sense of fellowship and community with each person in the room.

In attendance were representatives from The Fayetteville Police Department, Elected Officials, Business Owners, and Churches. Each person was there to not only support WIDU but our community as a whole.

“As God continues to unfold his divine plan we are blessed to have witnessed mighty acts of some incredible prayer partners. Thank you for all your do and may God always bless you.”
