3 Parents 1 Stage: WTP SpeakUp Podcast Battle Of The Sexes LIVE

Press/Media Coverage Disclosure

The WTP SpeakUp Podcast Battle of the Sexes brought three parents to one stage to share their thoughts, views, life experiences, and advice in a way that let the entire audience feel free to Speak Up!

Big Head – Little Ears

A few days before the show I had the chance to catch a live episode and let me just say it was not only hilarious but relatable. Although Erica was away for this episode Lynnie and Blaine had no trouble keeping the conversation and the fun on a steady loop. These two get each other and have no problems expressing themselves in their own unique way.

I know, I know – you’re wondering what the title of this section has to do with anything I just said. Here, this will help:

The Show

The day of the show I was excited to see how the on-camera interaction would translate to the stage. The chemistry between Blaine, Lynnie & Erica instantly makes you feel welcome to be a part of the chat but first, they wanted to shine a spotlight on their community. When Blaine, Lynnie, and Erica decided to bring the show to Fayetteville it wasn’t just about them. Part of their plan for the night was to spotlight local artists by giving them space to perform and present.

JCLive99

JC is a radio host on one of Fayetteville’s most popular stations – Foxy 99! She took the stage as host and helped keep both the team and the audience on track and in order throughout the show.

Blaine, Lynnie, and Erica asked questions like:

<

p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>“Do you think you should share your ‘body count’ with a new love interest?”

“Should your partner receive gifts from an Ex?”

So let me explain the whole body count thing. The body count would be the number of people you slept with prior to the new relationship. This question was one that got a big response from both the WTP team as well as the audience.

During the second half of the battle couples from the audience were asked to participate in a Price Is Right style competition where they had to guess the cost of everyday household goods like cereal or laundry detergent. Some of the answers clearly showed who didn’t need to be sent to the store and who handles the money…LOL

Meet The Team

Now that you’ve heard all about the show I want to take a bit of space to let you meet the WTP Speak Up Podcast team. Three parents, three perspectives, one purpose: to speak up on the topics facing parents today. Here are a few questions I had for them . . .

What has been the most difficult part of your parenting journey?
I would say the most difficult part would be Co-Parenting because of the conflicting parenting style in each household.

How would you describe your parenting style?
I would give my parenting style three F’s “FFF” Firm, Fun, Fair.

How did the WTP Podcast come together?
At first, it was just an idea that I kept procrastinating about, but when I finally wanted to move forward it was easy. All it took was a phone call to each individual and SpeakUp Podcast was formed.

What’s your vision for Way To Parent Magazine?
My vision for WTP LifeStyle Magazine is to continue to raise awareness, empower and inspire parents and kids alike that they are capable of achieving anything they put their minds too.

What has been the most difficult part of your parenting journey?

Understanding I can’t do everything alone. I’ve never been comfortable with allowing others to help. I had to open up to people and accept their assistance.  I was very fearful and selfish with my children.  Even superhero’s have help. Great parenting involves having a strong village. I thank God every day for my village.

How would you describe your parenting style?
Hmm, my parenting style. I would say I’m a modern day silly thugged out parent lol.  I’m very honest with my children. I’m intentional with our conversations. I’m open to their opinions and concepts. I love being silly with them. I respect my children and they respect me.  My goal as a parent is for them to revere me but not fear me.

How did you become a part of the WTP Podcast?
I interviewed Blaine Way a few years ago and we kinda clicked. We began following each other on social media and he saw the videos I would post of me doing skits and dancing with my daughters.  I would also post videos with just me sharing my thoughts. He mentioned a podcast casually and I brushed it off. Then one day he put up a podcast casting call post on Facebook. I quickly hit him and told I was in. We’ve been rocking ever since.

Erica Lorraine

What has been the most difficult part of your parenting journey?
The most difficult part of my parenting journey has been my transition to a single parent. I divorced about three years ago, and adjusting to a single parent household has its challenges. I’m grateful my parents and others have supported me in my transition, it truly takes a village!

How would you describe your parenting style?
I would describe my parenting style as authoritative. I put a lot of effort into creating and maintaining a positive relationship with my daughter.
I also explain the reasons behind my rules. I do give consequences, but I also take my child’s feelings into consideration.

How did you become a part of the WTP Podcast?
So I first became a blogger/writer for Way To Parent. About a month after joining the team, Blaine mentioned that he also wanted to create a podcast, and asked me if I was interested in joining. So, of course, I said yesssss! It was honestly one of the best decisions I have made. I love the team and the topics that we discuss. The WTP SpeakUp podcast speaks up about families, relationships, and the issues within our community. Although we are a small group, we are making a big impact in Fayetteville!

I couldn’t agree more! WTP SpeakUp is definitely making a big impact here in Fayetteville and throughout North Carolina. To stay in theknow with what’s ahead be sure to follow them Online and On Facebook. Oh and don’t forget to Tune In every Thursday at 8pm for New Episodes of WTP SpeakUp Podcast!
