Hummingbird Candle Co. Workshop – Beneath The Wax

If you guys follow my Instagram feed you know I am one of the biggest fans of the recently established Hummingbird Candle Co. at Cornerstone Design Co. This fun DIY class gives anyone the chance to become a Chandler – fancy word for candle maker.

Yet there is a bit more to it than just that. Taking a candle workshop can be an amazing way to connect with friends, spouses, kids, co-workers or even yourself.

I recently had the chance to spend a bit of me time in what turned into a one-on-one workshop. Working with Madi was so fun and relaxing. We laughed, I sipped on a bit of Winterbloom Tea and she told me the why behind the creation of Hummingbird Candle Co.

Why A Hummingbird?

The Hummingbird is a symbol for many things including creativity. It represents two forms of creativity: those who create motivated by passion and those who create motivated by curiosity.

Owners Tiana and Mike are both creatives but they each seek to fulfill that passion in different ways. Mike is driven by his passion for what he does while Tiana has a curiosity for things and what brings people together.

When Tiana came up with the idea for the candle workshop to be her creative extension of the Cornerstone Brand the hummingbird was a natural fit as it’s symbol.

Beneath The Wax

As we went through the steps of creating my very own unique candle Madi began to explain the process. You get to select a scent from 32 choices within the Hummingbird library. I found out I may be a bit of a scent snob since I only seem to like the fruity scents.

When we got to the wick she told me a little something they’ve added to each candle.

Before you place your wick at the center of the jar, you write a goal, wish or dream on the side of your wick. As your candle burns, you will be reminded of that goal and once the candle is done you will have hopefully achieved it.

Little things like this make the Hummingbird Candle Co. an experience I recommend for everyone.

Be A Chandler

You can even share it with your kiddies this summer by taking advantage of the Parent & Me Candle Making Workshop.

Take a moment, find a bit of time and stop in to have your own Hummingbird Candle Workshop experience and don’t forget to tell them. . .
