It’s been nearly two months since my Hubby and I decided to cut the chord to cable and switch to streaming. So far the switch has saved us nearly $400! Winning, right?!? Switching has also given us the opportunity to get our binge on in a major way this summer. Finding the perfect show to stream can be a hassle so I wanna share my ultimate Netflix summer binge list with you – my fellow streamers!

The Ultimate Netflix Summer Binge List | TheMrsTee.com

Despite having an office, my favorite work spot is still in front of the TV which means I’ve had plenty of time to discover some binge-worthy shows and movies.

Netflix

Netflix has been my No. 1 source for stream entertainment for years even before we split with cable. The monthly membership fee is reasonable and you can find something for just about any interest or taste. Netflix Original Series are exactly what they sound like. Unlike when you stream content that is released on networks these series are created and streamed exclusively to Netflix.

All Things Marvel

Ya’ll all know I and my family are HUGE Marvel fans. I think that’s why the Marvel Netflix Originals are at the very top of my summer binge list.

Marvel’s Luke Cage

The Luke Cage series has 2 Season so far. Here’s how Netflix describes it:

A hoodie-wearing, unbreakable ex-con fights to clear his name and save his neighborhood. He wasn’t looking for a fight, but the people need a hero.

Marvel’s The Punisher

The Punisher has just 1 Season so far but I am already waiting for the next one. Here’s why:

A former Marine out to punish the criminals responsible for his family’s murder finds himself ensnared in a military conspiracy.

Marvel’s Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones has me hooked! 2 seasons in this powerful yet vulnerable female keeps it real by pushing to do good despite her flaws.

Haunted by a traumatic past, Jessica Jones uses her gifts as a private eye to find her tormentor before he can harm anyone else in Hell’s Kitchen.

Marvel’s Iron Fist

I didn’t know a lot about Iron Fist until my youngest son gave me the background and once he did I was completely engaged in the story of this orphan who found his strength through an ancient doctrine of focus and discipline.

Danny Rand resurfaces 15 years after being presumed dead. Now, with the power of the Iron Fist, he seeks to reclaim his past and fulfill his destiny.

Marvel’s Daredevil

This was one of the very first Marvel-themed series I discovered on Netflix and there is a good reason it hasn’t been their last.

Blinded as a young boy, Matt Murdock fights injustice by day as a lawyer and by night as the Super Hero Daredevil in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

Marvel’s Defenders

One of the things I love best is that Netflix has found a way to intertwine the stories of each individual character to the point where they can cross-over and support each other in a series of their own.

This series brings the lead characters from their already successful Marvel series: Luke Cage, Frank, Jessica, Danny and Matthew to one show as a team determined to defend the citizens from the evil headed their way.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist join forces to take on common enemies as a sinister conspiracy threatens New York City.

New & Improved

Recently Netflix has managed to take some of my favorite TV Shows and bring them back in Brand New Netflix Original ways.

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life

Lorelai won my heart during the Original Gilmore Girls series released back in 2006. I immediately found a kindred spirit in the coffee-loving straight-talking mom and her smart, sweet and sometimes overwhelmed daughter Rory. When I saw the Netflix was bringing them back I knew this show was one I had to watch. *You can also watch the Original Gilmore Girls on Netflix if by some strange twist you haven’t already 😉

Set nearly a decade after the finale of the original series, this revival follows Lorelai, Rory and Emily Gilmore through four seasons of change.

Fuller House

That’s right folks Netflix has gathered the Tanners and brought them back to our favorite full home in San Francisco to make it even fuller with new loves, new kids and a brand new story all while keeping the same Tanner family fun we have come to love!

The Tanner family’s adventures continue as DJ Tanner-Fuller shares a home with her sister Stephanie and friend Kimmy who help raise her three boys.

Richie Rich

This is one of my childhood faves. I grew up watching the cartoon adventures of this rich kid who always seemed to find his way out of trouble no matter what. Netflix has taken this cool kid and given him is own live-action series! I can’t wait to watch this one with my Kiddies.

After turning his veggies into green energy, Richie Rich earns a trillion dollars overnight and a new life filled with nonstop fun and adventure.

The Magic School Bus

I can’t tell you how many times I sat in front of a bowl of cereal watching the Adventures of The Magic School Bus. Now I get to share this amazing series with my Kiddies as Netflix takes the trust yellow bus on brand new adventures full of learning and fun.

Ms. Frizzle’s kid sister Fiona takes the wheel at Walkerville Elementary, leading the class on wild adventures packed with science-fueled fun.

Degrassi: Next Class

Degrassi Junior High and its second series Degrassi High was seen as the first soap opera for kids. This show told the stories of kids with real issues, struggles, and triumphs. Netflix has brought this winning recipe back in its Original Series Degrassi: Next Class.

Degrassi’s next generation of high-tech newbies and returning students navigates real-world high school drama. If you’re a teen, this is your life.

One Day At A Time

I remember watching this show with my Grandmother. It was always the perfect blend of funny and thought-provoking. When I saw that Netflix brought a new family to the screen with an updated look at life as a single mom I knew I wanted to see what it was all about.

In a reimagining of the TV classic, a newly single Latina mother raises her teen daughter and tween son with the “help” of her old-school mom.

What’s So Funny?

Comedy is one of my favorite ways to distress and release the cares of a long day. Netflix has not let me down when it comes to comedy that has my family walking into the room and asking me “What’s so funny?”

Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee

Netflix had me at Coffee and Jerry Seinfeld for this one. Those two things alone had my attention but once I started watching this series I knew that laughs were sure to happen.

Jerry Seinfeld’s roving talk show combines coffee, laughs and vintage cars into quirky, caffeine-fueled adventures with the sharpest minds in comedy.

Kevin James: Never Don’t Give Up

Kevin James has been one of my favorite comedians since King of Queens. I love that his comedy is something I can share with my entire family and never miss a laugh.

Jerry Seinfeld’s roving talk show combines coffee, laughs and vintage cars into quirky, caffeine-fueled adventures with the sharpest minds in comedy.

Gabriel lglesias: I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry

I was first introduced to Gabriel Iglesias by my oldest son when he found a few clips of his stand-up on YouTube. I can’t even tell you how many hours we sat there watching clip after clip. Gabriel gives humor that is relatable and real.

Hawaiian-shirt enthusiast Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias finds the laughs in racist gift baskets, Prius-driving cops and all-female taco trucks.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman

David Letterman is a classic funny man and in this monthly series, he is sitting down and helping us get to know some of his favorite people one question and laugh at a time.

TV legend David Letterman teams up with fascinating global figures for in-depth interviews and curiosity-fueled excursions in this monthly talk show.

Kid’s Picks

I asked my kids a few of their favorite Netflix Original Series and I was shocked that many of them are so good I wouldn’t mind watching them myself!

Anne With An E

This show could have easily been added to my New & Improved list because I grew reading the Anne of Green Gables series over and over. I have also seen just about every movies or show based on the series. I was so excited to share my love for this spunky yet troubled little girl with my Kiddies.

A plucky orphan whose passions run deep finds an unlikely home with a spinster and her soft-spoken bachelor brother. Based on “Anne of Green Gables.”

Mako Mermaids

I was not surprised to see this show up as one of my youngest Girlie’s picks! My little girl will watch any and everything that has to do with mermaids. This is a show I have watched along with her and I must admit it can pull you in and have you in a total binge without even realizing it. *Oh and yes we have also binge-watched the Original H2o 😉

This “H2O” sequel follows Zac, a boy who accidentally turns into a merman and threatens the existence of three young mermaids who guard Mako Island.

Project MC2

This is another show I actually enjoy watching with my Kiddies. Even my youngest son tolerates it…LOL  We love how each of the MC2 girls has her own strength and learns to work together as a team. I love how seeing girls you are not afraid to show off their smarts and use them for good gives my Girlies a boost of confidence and encouragement to do the same.

Teenage spy McKeyla teams up with three other super-smart girls to become secret agents who use their science and tech skills to save the day.

Troll Hunters Tales Of Arcadia

This is one my Buddie picked out – he’s 7 and loves just about anything action. I have once again been drawn into this one because of the great storylines.

After uncovering a mysterious amulet, an average teen assumes an unlikely destiny and sets out to save two worlds. Created by Guillermo del Toro.

Spirit Riding Free

This is actually a series I introduce my Kiddies to. We saw the original movie a long time ago and when I stumbled upon this series based on that story I knew it would be something we could enjoy together.

In a small Western town, spunky ex-city girl Lucky forms a tight bond with wild horse Spirit while having adventures with best pals Pru and Abigail.

Voltron

I remember this cartoon from my childhood and it almost made my own list. Thankfully my Kiddies don’t mind letting me watch with them 😉

In an all-new series, five unlikely heroes and their flying robot lions unite to form the megapowerful Voltron and defend the universe from evil.

Knights of the Zodiac Saint Seiya

My Kiddies love Anime – they get it from their Dad – and when the discovered this newest Anime release on Netflix I knew it would find a place on their Profile Playlist.

Seiya and the Knights of the Zodiac rise again to protect the reincarnation of the goddess Athena, but a dark prophecy hangs over them all.

Me Time

Netflix Original Series

Once the Kiddies have gone to bed and I have a bit of me-time there are a few Netflix Original Series and Movies that I can’t help but binge-watch all by myself.

13 Reasons Why

Season 1 had me on the edge of my couch and drinking coffee just to make sure I didn’t miss an episode. I can’t wait to get started on Season 2 because I know there are a few questions I am hoping to get answered.

Why did Hannah Baker take her own life? Her classmates all have secrets … and the truth is about to come out.

TROY Fall Of A City

I’m a sucker for a historically based story and Troy takes a look at one of the most famous battles in history and gives us a glimpse at what things may have been for some of the key characters.

Searching for the woman promised to him by Aphrodite, herdsman Paris learns his true identity and falls for Helen of Sparta, igniting the Trojan War.

Godless

Read This Too  My Music My Way With Google Chromecast Audio!

Another series set back in a time period I love this one tells the tale of a town occupied by women. Women who have learned to fight and protect the city they live in without men . . . until he arrives.

A ruthless outlaw terrorizes the West in search of a former member of his gang, who’s found a new life in a quiet town populated only by women.

Netflix Original Movies

Netflix has taken movie streaming to a new level with its Original Films and Movies. These are high-quality movies with A-List talent brought right to your screen.

The Highwaymen

I love a great Historical Bio Documentary. There. I said it. Stick Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson into the ix and you’ve got my full attention!

Two steely former Texas Rangers are tasked with tracking and killing infamous criminals Bonnie and Clyde in this crime drama based on real events.

Secret Obsession

In this tense thriller/drama we see one of our Disney faves, Brenda Song, taking on a role that is all grown up and fighting to remember who her husband really is and how she ended up in a wheelchair. Yeah, this movie is definitely a ‘pay attention to the details’ kinda pick and I love it!

When Jennifer wakes up with amnesia after a traumatic attack, her doting husband cares for her. But she soon realizes the danger is far from over.

Point Blank

A husband. A murder suspect. Renegade Cops. Point Blank has them all and a storyline to support them. Starring Frank Grillo (Zero Dark Thirty) and Anthony Mackie (Falcon) I know this is one I can count out for the perfect date night movie night.

To save his pregnant wife, an emergency room nurse unwillingly partners with an injured murder suspect in a race against time and renegade cops.

Always Be My Maybe

Romantic Comedies make me happy! Starring Ali Wong and Randall Park Always Be my Maybe brings together the best of both worlds with the friendship turned courtship between Marcus and Sasha. Also, Keanu Reeves – yeah he stops by for a bit too!

Reunited after 15 years, famous chef Sasha and hometown musician Marcus feel the old sparks of attraction but struggle to adapt to each other’s worlds.

Set It Up

Sometimes you just need something fun, light and romantic. That’s what you get from Set It Up. This light-hearted romance tells the story of how two unlikely allies work to set up two unlikely people.

In desperate need of a break from the office, two beleaguered assistants team up to trick their workaholic bosses into falling in love.

Irreplaceable You

This romance is one that will make you treasure every single moment with the one you love. Sometimes you need a good cry to make you realize what you have is priceless.

A stunning cancer diagnosis spurs Abbie to seek a future girlfriend for fiancé and childhood sweetheart Sam, who’s clueless when it comes to dating.

When We First Met

This is a movie I haven’t seen yet but have a feeling this light romantic comedy will be perfect for a late-night movie night with the Hubby.

Using a magical photo booth that sends him back in time, Noah relives the night he met Avery over and over, trying to persuade her to fall for him.

Girlboss

Ever have those moments when you just wanna watch something that will have you walking away feeling like you can rule the world? Girlboss was that movie for me. The story of a girl who takes an online hustle and makes it a business!

Rebellious and broke, Sophia stumbles into creating an online business and learns how to be the boss. A comedy inspired by the best-selling memoir.

Brain On Fire

This is a movie based on the real-life story of a young woman struck with a disease no one can put a name to. I actually saw the story of the woman behind this movie and would love to see how it has been adapted for the small screen.

Stricken with seizures, psychosis and memory loss, a young New York Post reporter visits doctor after doctor in search of an elusive diagnosis.

Bright

If you like a bit of Sci-Fi with a lot of action then this is the movie for you! Will Smith never surprises me with his ability to combine action and drama.

In an LA rife with interspecies tensions, a human cop and his orc partner stumble on a powerful object and become embroiled in a prophesied turf war.

ANON

Here’s another movie that feeds my love for sci-fi. I haven’t seen it yet but it’s definitely next on my list.

In a future where technology has rendered privacy obsolete, a detective investigates a serial assassin who has been deleted from all visual records.

Message From The King

I am going to be completely honest here. This movie caught my eye because I saw that Chadwick Boseman was in the lead role. I am still floating on cloud nine from his performance as Black Panther and can’t wait to see him again.

On a relentless quest to avenge his sister’s murder, a man from Cape Town infiltrates a sprawling network of lowlifes and elites in Los Angeles.
