As an introvert, I never thought I’d reach a point where I had enough of not going out – but I’m there folks! This year has been a challenge for so many reasons and until recently staying home was one thing I counted as a benefit. Yet slowly my inner extrovert began to wonder what the heck was happening?!!
I normally had a balance between recharging at home and being social at events, activities, and such. That balance was thrown off and now I’m always in search of a way to get out, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks to a friend’s birthday I had the chance to do just that at our local Wine & Design Studio. Mind you when she sent me the information I couldn’t believe the location is one I walk past all the time! I’d never been. Can you believe it? I pride myself on discovering and experiencing all Fayetteville has to offer but somehow Wine & Design slipped past me.
Located in the heart of downtown Fayetteville on Donaldson Street, Wine & Design offers social distance safe fun for private celebrations, date nights, girl’s nights out – event introverts with slight extroverted tendencies … LOL
The studio was set up with seating at social distances and since we were a private party we were able to wear our masks according to our own comfort level. Oh, and I didn’t forget my BYOWine – thanks to my friends at The Wine Cafe I had the perfect personal-sized bottle to get me through the night.
The artist instructor of the class, Stephanie, kept her mask on at all times giving me a consistent sense of safety. I even recognized Stephanie as one of the Barista’s for another of my favorite downtown spots – The Coffee Cup! She made the class was so much fun.
I learned Stephanie has a degree in Art with a focus on set design. It made total sense since I remembered her award nomination-worthy pumpkin design for Halloween during our downtown competition. Well her artistic skills don’t end there. Stephanie was able to walk this amateur artist through all the steps to not only duplicate but personalize my rendition of the portrait we selected for the night.
I loved that she gave me all the freedom I wanted to add a bit of my personality while being ready to help with any oops I had along the way. Including my accidental elimination of my girl’s boob area…LOL In a few quick strokes she was able to give her the boob job she so desperately needed and add a few details I didn’t realize I missed.
My painting is now proudly displayed in my office! All of my coworkers ask where I bought it and I’m always excited to tell them I painted it myself – with a bit of expert help from Stephanie at Wine & Design. We are even thinking of planning a team-building night so they can experience the fun for themselves.
Have you ever had a paint night with friends or family? What was your favorite part?
